To Compare Shear Bond Strength of Cross-linked Acrylic Denture Teeth with Two High-impact Denture Base Acrylic Resin and a Conventional Denture Base Acrylic Resin-in Vitro Study

Abstract
Objective:To evaluate and compare shear bond strength of cross-linked acrylic denture teeth with two high impact & one conventional denture base resin.

Methods:Seventy?five maxillary central incisors acrylic resin teeth (Aesthetic, Heraeus Kulzar, Germany) of same mold (17TO) were chosen and processed in heat cure resin. Group A- Twenty five samples of cross-linked acrylic teeth were used for high impact Trevlon. HI Group B- Twenty five samples of cross-linked acrylic teeth were used for conventional DPI. Group C- Twenty five samples of cross-linked acrylic teeth were processed with high impact Meliodent. Each Tooth arranged onto the acrylic block of respective group were placed onto a fixture for shear bond strength at 130 degree. Instron testing machine was used for testing.

Results:The One-way ANOVA revealed significant differences among Group A, Group B and Group C for all specimens (p£¼0.05). In this comparison between Group A and Group B the calculated 't' value was 37.96 and tabulated 't' value was 2.00. Hence the calculated 't' value was higher than the tabulated 't' value at 0.05% level of significance.

Conclusion:Shear bond strength of cross-linked acrylic resin teeth with two high impact denture base acrylic resin was significantly greater as compared to that with conventional denture base resin. However majority of specimens had bond failure which was cohesive in nature between cross-linked acrylic teeth specimen processed with high impact acrylic resin denture base and maximum adhesive type of bond failure between cross-linked acrylic teeth specimen processed with conventional denture base resin.
